when good ideas go bad

I bought a pair of adicolor sneakers a couple of weeks back. They're cool because you can change the color of the stripes. So last weekend, I decided that I had enough of red, yellow, green and blue stripes. To my dismay, some of the plastic stripes had broken inside the shoe, and I just could not get one of the green stripes out. It was a real engineering problem. I used a pair of scissors and nail clippers, but that only made the thing go further down into the shoe.

I solved the problem (sort of), but I wish the shoes came with some tweezers.

I've been listening to a lot of Goldfrapp lately. Something with the cold mechanical beats. However, as much as I love the electro disco-glam rock of the last two albums, I still hanker for the music they made for their first album, felt mountain. That was chilling, icy and I loved all the distorted operatic bits. That woman can sing.

Goldfrapp - Lovely Head

This is for all you feist fans.

I love everything about this video too.

Who wants to watch the first 4 minutes of Borat? I know that I do.

i've found my true calling

and that's to be in advertising. Today an ex creative director of a big ad firm talked to us in class. Her team was in charge of the mastercard campaign. Yeah, one of her people came up with the 'there are some things money can't buy, for everything else..' line. I thought it was cool that the ads have been running for nine years now. They have to find new ways of making it fresh-- they got the guy who does the voice to be in the spot itself. So apparently the best advertising is emotional advertising. I like that. I also like the idea of working 18 hours day on something you like. I shall sleep on that thought.

nobody loves me it's true

hahahaahhaha. This is today's WTF video. Justin Timberlake having meat (ham?) slapped on his face.

Plus, Scarlett Johansson's cleavage is enormous. NSFW. I esp like how for every one person saying 'amazing rack' there'll be two others saying 'trashy slut'. Real mature people.

Now this is worth seeing. Album covers attacking each other. Green Day's grenade blows up the world. What's not to like?

the most tender place in my heart is for strangers

I'm breaking my blog fast to tell you the following things.

1. Battlestar: Galactica is Back and Better than ever. Both the first and third episodes had incredibly moving moments. And that is unusual for me. God, Edward James Olmos is good. He gives gravitas to even the most ordinary lines.

2. Lucy Lawless is really hot. She's my new sex symbol. But not as hot as Scarlett Johansson and Dita Von Teese.

3. Hmm, does anyone know if they sell cheap wong kar wai movie posters in Singapore?

4. I'm taking a break from Justin Timberlake and the like, because I realized that they just make me feel so unsexy by comparison.

i am not afraid of you and i will beat your ass

First of all, I can't believe it's true, but yes, desperate housewives is funny again. The second season's like a nightmare that passed.

And second, the strokes concert 2 or 3 weeks ago was beyond awesome. The Cornell Daily Sun called it the best concert on campus in years. Yes, after all the hype and the backlash, I think it's great that they survived. Loved the psychedelic lights and the crowd-- there were so many people surfing, shoes flying around, even dancing. They played all my favorite songs too-- nyc cops, reptilia, someday, last nite, barely legal, hard to explain, they made me like the new songs even (juicebox, heart in a cage). But also, Julian Casablancas really can't sing for nuts. See, I can be a rock frontman too.
