today i listened to some of my old compilation cdr for fun. i don't burn them anymore cuz i get sick of them quite easily. i used to put all the nice songs in front. some were quite commercial too, like there's nelly and kylie minogue. i also did one called 'music for space travel'. it's supposed to be for a trip to mars and back. i figured the best song for rocket take-off was oasis' do you know what i mean. haha. i watched bourne supremacy with morris and it's fast paced and car crash+political conspiracy thriller. it's really good. especially how jason bourne always outsmarts them and how he's watching the CIA woman from the other building with a sniper telescope.. i hope the third movie gets made. i tried to find bjork's medulla but seems like it's not out in singapore yet. morris bought the kit chan sofa music trilogy, the limited to 1000 copies one. he was really happy. then i went to have dinner with millie and tzefang. they have made me obsessed with adjusting the digital camera's settings until the picture taken is just nice. it takes up so much time to do the white balance and iso and flash. i think i'm so not a slr person. and hey, i love the kill bill shirt to death. it's inspiring me to make more of my own. then maybe one day some stranger will come and compliment my shirt like the woman today.

urh.. i just added some unknown person to my icq.. someone called masha.. thankfully not pestering to know me..
IS magazine has a hilarious aunt agony column. this guy says he's 22, gay and claims that his spunk is off-yellow, as opposed to being off-white. so he's worried and he wants help cuz some of the guys he's been with have been commenting on that. anyway we came up with the idea that we should send in some ridiculous letter like: i'm a 30 male, happily married for 2 years, and lately i've been having some weird and suggestive dreams about my nephew. is something wrong with me?
hurray for the 5 day work week. i no longer have to squeeze all my outings into saturday. it takes effect on 1st sep and my first weekend is burnt by the army open house.
i highly recommend 13 going on 30 to all chick flick and jennifer garner lovers. it had me in tears at times. so don't be put off by its glittery opening scene and cringe worthy pink titles. there's also a very nice song they used (not liz phair's why can't i) that i wanna find.
i managed to download 12 cds worth of music from bit torrent. estimated amount of money saved: $240. they are
1 pj harvey's uh huh her
2 elliot smith's either/or
3 scissor sisters
4 muse's absolution
5 zero 7's when it falls
6 supergrass' best of
7 prince's musicology
8 kayne west's the college dropout
9 the streets' a grand don't come for free
10 the postal service's give up
11 etta james' at last!
12 high fidelity ost
so that's what i'm listening to now. bjork's new album medulla comprises solely of vocal music. an audi ad that shows the car zipping round some impossible structures. tres cool.
i'm on leave tomorrow but i don't know what to do to occupy my time. so i booked a driving lesson. i haven't been improving at all. it's actually frustating.

i love it when you guys write stuff on the left.. it proves that i've got a loyal fan base..
note to self: i need to get 18 dollars back from somebody, anybody who went to sing karaoke just now.
why oh why did li jiawei lose to the north korean? our olympic medal is seriously elusive.
i think table tennis is just about the most nerve wracking game there is. the table is so small, the bat is so small, the ball is even smaller, and each game point lasts only a few return shots.
meanwhile, singapore(an) idol still fails to give us singers with truly unique voices. the elim chew-lookalike is probably my best bet. extra points for bitching.
back in camp, one can almost feel the winds of change (how cliche) sweeping across us. i have a new pc, the old one's going to leave for australia. our new oc wants us to do 5bx every morning. hate him. the section 2ics are doing more duties. there's a new fridge in the bunk to put our ice cream in. our co is heavy on punishment and he's rather lousy at giving speeches.
this weekend's short so there's little i can do. got to renew my pdl tomorrow.
if there are any arty farty stuff any of you want to go please take me along. and i need to find more extracurricular interests.
Yes! i have survived the last of my two week confinements. today 21st of august is a good day, because it's exactly 7 months to ORD! yipee. so sad i couldn't go for odacia. blame the chief of armour for not coming to vet our army open house shindig on thursday and choosing to come on sat instead. the world revolves around you, SIR!

8.08.2004

this was not a fantastic long weekend. on saturday i was out with lawrence and we went to check out the comme des garcons guerilla store in temple street. the signage was as expected, about as big as an A4 size paper. lucky i spot it. so we went up a narrow staircase and had to open a heavy door and there was an angmo guy inside trying on a shirt. anyway we left soon enough after being promptly ignored by the salespeople and spotting the 150-500 price range. then we went to town and met keith teo and kiwi and zhicheng. anyway two of these guys, who shall remain anonymous, bought the same energie sandals the next day. abeit in different colours. still..

then i was late for my class gathering, the second in two weeks. or was it three? xinyi's panicky call: don't leave me alone with karen and her boyfriend!! me: but you did that to me before. we went to the new olio restaurant at suntec. and what's with all the 'olio's? there's olio dome, and then we saw olio bites, at which everyone thought i was bringing them to eat doughnuts, and then there's olio. but this place has a nice classy ambience and you might consider dinner there. i was feeling nauseous throughout dinner probably cuz of all the shopping. bene was telling the rest about his business propositions, nick was drinking a vodka cocktail called 'stress buster', bingxun was sharing army gossip, theodore discussed the merits of 'the village', xinyi thought andrew was having a salad even though it plainly did not look like a salad and karen did not have horrible hair.

then me and xy went to ps to meet zhenjin and keith. we wanted to watch farenheit 911 but only single seats were left. so we sat at the gelare place and had the most interesting conversation mostly about the different classes of people in school. culture clash and the like.
xy: the cool people in school are different. they like to party.
zj: but we like to party too.
and we came down to the conclusion that we all secretly desired to be called 'kantangs' even though we all speak mandarin at home and are more cheena than people who speak english all the time. we are more kuai but we're wacky. uniformed groups are not cool at all.

on sunday i did driving and did the simulator which was like driving in arcade. it had cars which disobeyed the rules and made me crash once. then i cut my hair and i went swimming. then i had quality family time going to ntuc with my parents and sis. i bought about 50 dollars worth of groceries. then we also had dinner and we saw the fireworks from my grandparents' 26 storey flat. it was a short performance. we couldn't see the low ones and only saw the few high ones. it was terribly bright but it lasted like less than 5 mins.

at home i tried to watch mulholland drive and secretary but fell asleep. the review of the dim sum dollies is so yummy but i can't watch it! bleargh.

8.06.2004

sheesh.. my parents got me a 'i love singapore' shirt from hang ten and on one hand it's corny but on the other, it would be cool to declare my love for the nation, instead of um, complaining about the lack of fun, the competitiveness, the heat, how expensive the ipod is. oh but that's another matter altogether.

anyway my CO was just saying today, very enthusiastically, that the training will be taken up a notch after we're done with the army open house (my friend's doing a safari thing-- public goes around in jeeps gawking at poor army boys doing stuff, probably the leopard crawl) and the half marathon (last week's 10k was enough. can't imagine 21). funny how most people approaching ORD get slacker and slacker while over in my unit, things get worse and worse.

so last week i watched the village, one of those shows that illicit extrene reactions from people eg. nabe cheebai! that was friggin $7.50!
i thought it was good storytelling though.
i also read life of pi. at first it was boring then it got interesting again. i also learnt how to play accidentally in love on the guitar but it still sounds awful. and then i found out that my viewing of the oc is finally ahead of singapore's schedule! and since i just watched another four, i'm now four weeks ahead! right. the part where luke got on with julie was like uh yeeeww, in summer-speak. and i watched in the mood for love and i join the legion of wong kar wai-tony leung worshippers.

cheers to a good long weekend.

woah i did the impossible today.. i left my phone at home. it's a very vulnerable feeling. private parts was very funny cuz you know all jokes laced with sexual innuendoes are funny. but we were seating very far away so all i could see was their body moving. i so need to watch kumar and the dim sum dollies.

yay, i managed to download pj harvey's uh huh her and elliot smith's either or from bit torrent without any glitches. i am building up my mp3 collection for my future ipod.

the girl who works at the movie poster shop at the esplanade is uber-hot! i feel like buying a poster from her soon man.

i hope the new jay chou album is a flop *evil smirk*.
