atec is finally over! the only thing that kept us busy for the past few months can be summarised in a few scattered memories: slacking the whole of the first day in the bunk - entering the reservoir in the vehicle and getting totally drenched - getting killed three times - not knowing what the fuck was going on most of the time - waking my driver up - having a signaller fix my radio set, which was not working properly for a whole day, in a second - hearing my ps jam the radio and getting screwed - wearing the same dirty uniform for four days - changing from uncomfortable position to uncomfortable position while sleeping.
We celebrated by toasting three bottles of wine: to ord, to platoon six, to no more kenny.
I was so happy yesterday when i dekitted some of my stuff and emptied out my cupboards. filled up two trash bags of rubbish and got the sacred clearance forms. Unfortunately the vehicle is probably going to keep me in camp next week.

the initial verdict on tori's the beekeeper- it's a keeper. haha. i'm not always a fan of her music even though i buy her new albums with religious fervour. for example, i loved from the choirgirl hotel to bits but scarlet's walk was a tad too long and boring. the new one is equally sprawling and no, her lyrics still don't make much sense, although there's an interview dvd in which she explains some of the songs. what i like is how fresh and happy she sounds. the songs are also funkier and more varied in texture and sweet the sting has the most sing-along chorus of any of her songs. i was already singing sweet sweet sweet the sting the first time i listened. i also love witness' use of the backing choir. it's almost as uplifting as gospel. i'm going to find out more about the gospel of mary magdalene because she keeps exploring the topic and it's not really a part of the bible for some reason. to top it off, she still looks as unearthly ethereal on the cd booklet. let's hope that her upcoming tour lasts till the end of the year so that i can have a chance to see her.
