i'm reading bret easton ellis' GLAMORAMA. yes i know, the title sounds very chick lit. i'm 80 pages into it and he has already name dropped everyone from uma thurman to kate moss to stanford blatch (wait. standord? isn't that the gay guy from sex and the city?). bret is the guy who gave us american psycho, the last word on 80's excess and powergrabbing and lust. this book i'm reading is in set in the following decade and satirizes the whole celebrity worship culture. he excels in giving us shallow fashion obsessed characters. victor ward, a hot model whose favorite line is 'the better you look, the more you see,' who's dense and yet knows everyone in new york.
victor apparently gets involved with a terrorism ring led by supermodels. i am not kidding ya. i'll let you know when i finish it.
