while we were all looking forward to cycling around singapore, nothing prepared us for the excruciating pain we had to suffer afterwards. for instance, when walking to mc's for breakfast, i could barely take a step forward without my thighs threatening to cramp up.
all things considered, it was really a dangerous challenge. the last time i cycled was like two years ago, i'm not good at narrow spaces eg. path between the road and a really deep drain.. and early on, we had to go onto the road with cars horning at our backs and cross the geylang roads with pedestrians. i was also dismayed with the poor design of bus stops.. they had barriers and the advertisements blocked the whole pavement. like the last night cycling in 2002, things got better when we were out of the eastern parts. we went to serangoon's chomp chomp and had dan dou hua. i couldn't get enough but nobody else seemed keen on more. the garden there had a rope structure which we climbed onto to take photos. it was quite high up and the camera was precariously passed around so that everyone could get a shot.
didn't take many photos elsewhere since we seldom stopped for long and i couldn't use a camera while cycling. we went to newton to have extremely oily food. i almost ordered my third cup of sugar cane. by that time, my hands were sore and my ass was aching. the back too. we went down to orchard road which has always been fun because there are wide open spaces in front of the malls. we cycled to somewhere near the esplanade (many making out couples) and then on to kallang. got a bit lost in the carparks because of all the mrt construction. then back to east coast park, a long uneventful ride to bedok jetty, where we slept. amazing how many people camp there overnight.
after going to home to sleep for a few hours, i went out again with lawrence to buy his g-star jeans. really very tempting. the evening was spent at dom's house, where we had a barbeque and took many stupid photos. they all involve us creatively using props such as food, soft toys and liquor bottles.
cool helmet huh.
